About 6 Mile Cellars
6 Mile Cellars was a boutique winery in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania, at the western end of the Lake Erie grape belt just outside the city of Erie. It was founded in 2012 by Bart Towell and Pat Walsh, and it operated out of a repurposed former horse barn on the property that dates to the 1850s. In its later years it was run by Patrick and Angela Walsh.
The winery kept Niagara vines on the property and poured a mix of dry and sweet wines, including a red called Derby Red and an Estate Niagara, alongside ciders such as Honey Badger Cider. The old barn served as the tasting room, a farm-scale space rather than a large hospitality complex.
6 Mile Cellars has closed. The owners announced the end of the business after a run from 2012 to 2026, citing growing family commitments and the difficulty of running the winery remotely from Pittsburgh, where they are focusing instead on their cider program at Snappy's Taphouse. A farewell weekend was mentioned but no dates were published. Do not plan a visit here, and confirm current details before traveling.
