About Acorn Winery / Alegría Vineyards
Acorn Winery was built around Alegría Vineyard, a historically important Russian River Valley field-blend site first planted in the 1890s with many grape varieties interplanted and harvested together.
Bill and Betsy Nachbaur farmed the vineyard and made Acorn wines beginning in 1990, preserving a style closely connected to Sonoma County's early immigrant winemaking traditions.
The Nachbaurs later retired and sold the Acorn brand to Ancient Oak Cellars. The original Acorn tasting operation at Alegría Vineyards is permanently closed, so older tasting details should not be used for trip planning.
The Acorn name and its field-blend tradition may continue under the new owner, but that continuation is separate from the former Healdsburg visitor location documented here.
"A historical profile of Acorn's old-vine field-blend legacy and the former Alegría Vineyard tasting location."
