About Aileron Estates
Shannon O'Shaughnessy launched Aileron Estates after 25 years in Napa wine, including helping start O'Shaughnessy Estate on Howell Mountain in 1997; a health crisis that pushed her toward aviation gave the label its name. Winemaking went to Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky of Atelier Melka from the first vintage in 2016, with the wines made at Brasswood Estate north of St. Helena.
The holdings were small and specific: under an acre of dry-farmed, organically managed Sauvignon Blanc in Coombsville, planted in 2006, and the 20-acre Altimeter Vineyard parcel on Atlas Peak, acquired in 2019 with 10.2 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on volcanic soils. The Napa Wine Project has since archived its review, stated reason, 'stopped producing', and the website no longer lists releases.
