About Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery
Alta Colina is a family-run, organically farmed Rhone estate high in the Adelaida District on the west side of Paso Robles, founded by Bob and Tricia Tillman in the early 2000s. The name is Spanish for high hill, and the 130-acre property climbs toward 1,800 feet, where intense sun and Pacific air concentrate the Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre, along with white Rhones like Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. The estate Syrahs and the Mourvedre-based Sun Worshiper blend are the ones to seek out.
The tasting room off Adelaida Road is a simple space inside the working winery, with walk-ins welcome, picnics encouraged, and dogs fine on the patio. Two experiences are worth planning around: the private Summit Vineyard Tasting, held a mile back and 500 feet higher for some of the best views in Paso, and the Trailer Pond, a Sunset Best of the West winner where five restored 1950s trailers ring a pond in the vineyard for an overnight glamping stay, capped by a hilltop Sundowner Deck at sunset.
