About Araujo Estate
Bart and Daphne Araujo bought a 162-acre Calistoga property in 1990 largely for what it contained: the 38-acre Eisele Vineyard, farmed since the 1880s and planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1964, the source of one of California's earliest vineyard-designated Cabernets in 1971. Their first vintage followed in 1991, and Araujo Estate quickly became one of Napa Valley's most sought-after names.
The Araujos converted the vineyard to organic farming in 1998 and earned Demeter biodynamic certification in 2002, then sold in 2013 to Artémis, the holding group of Château Latour owner François Pinault. In 2016 the new owners retired the Araujo name in favor of the land itself: the estate now operates as Eisele Vineyard, making about 2,000 cases of its flagship Cabernet plus Altagracia and small lots of Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.
