About Arnot-Roberts

Childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts grew up together among the vineyards of 1980s Napa Valley, in families rooted in the community as chefs, coopers, teachers, and attorneys. After college, Nathan joined his father's cooperage trade while Duncan made wine at Caymus, Groth, Acacia, and Kongsgaard; in 2001 the two founded Arnot-Roberts in Healdsburg with a single barrel of Zinfandel made in a basement, releasing their first commercial vintage in 2002.

Arnot-Roberts became a defining winery of the "New California" movement, seeking cool, overlooked sites from the Sonoma Coast to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Sierra Foothills for wines of freshness and restraint, typically 12 to 13 percent alcohol, fermented whole-cluster with native yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Nathan, a second-generation cooper, personally builds every French oak barrel the winery uses, and the small allocation-list production lands on tables at The French Laundry, Eleven Madison Park, and SingleThread.
