About Baker & Brain
Baker & Brain Wines pairs two founding partner surnames — Baker and Brain — in a compound name that happens to declare a philosophical duality: the baker's craft (practical, hands-on, the work of skilled transformation) and the brain's intellect (analytical, thoughtful, the work of understanding and reasoning). Together, they describe what good winemaking requires: both the craft and the intellect, neither sufficient alone.
The Adelaida District boutique produces Grenache and Syrah from calcareous limestone west-side Paso Robles vineyard sources with the dual-philosophy the name implies. Baker's craft and Brain's intellect applied to the calcareous limestone terroir that the Adelaida District's most structurally complex sites provide.
The appointment-only format keeps the dual-philosophy focus personal — craft and intellect both present in the conversation about what the wine is and how it was made.
