About Bargetto Winery
Bargetto Winery carries the Italian-heritage family surname of the Bargetto family — Philip Bargetto's 1933 founding making it one of California's oldest continuously family-operated wine estates. Philip and John Bargetto established the Santa Cruz County winery just after Prohibition's end, making Bargetto one of California's first post-Prohibition wine estates and one of the very few that have remained in the same Italian-heritage family for over 90 years.
The Soquel estate produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and the fruit wines (raspberry, ollalieberry, apricot) that the winery is also known for from Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey County vineyard sources. The 90-year family continuity gives Bargetto's Italian-heritage surname an unusual depth of commitment: the same family, the same property, the same wine culture sustained through multiple generations.
