About Black Sheep Winery
Black Sheep is one of Murphys' longest-standing small wineries, pouring Calaveras Zinfandel and foothill reds from a rustic cottage at the edge of downtown since the 1980s. The self-deprecating name set the tone for an unpretentious house that let the county's old-vine Zin speak plainly.
Decades on, the little tasting room remains a favorite first stop on the Murphys wine walk, priced for regular people and poured with local pride. The flock's black sheep aged rather well.
