About Boeger Winery
Boeger Winery is one of California's most historically founding Sierra Foothills wine estates — Greg and Susan Boeger established the Carson Road property in 1972 on the site of a historic gold-rush-era homestead, making them among the earliest pioneers of the modern El Dorado County wine industry. The Boeger German-heritage family surname has been on El Dorado County wine labels for more than fifty years.
The El Dorado County estate produces Zinfandel, Barbera, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay from foothill vineyard blocks at 2,500 to 3,500 feet elevation — the altitude that distinguishes El Dorado County's growing conditions from the lower-elevation Amador County estates. The higher elevation means cooler nights, longer hang time, and wines of unusual freshness and structural tension for the Sierra Foothills.
Wine Spectator has scored Boeger's El Dorado County Zinfandel and Barbera at 87–91 points across multiple decades.
