About Bovino Vineyards
Bovino Vineyards is named for the Italian word for bovine — cattle. The Vineyard Drive property was a cattle ranch before it was a winery, and the naming honors that agricultural heritage while acknowledging the transition: the same land that grazed cattle now grows Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, both expressions of the same commitment to working the land.
The Italian naming choice — bovino rather than the English 'cattle' — adds a layer of cultural identity to the agricultural declaration, suggesting a family with Italian roots farming Paso Robles land in the tradition of Italian-American agricultural families who came to California for exactly this kind of opportunity.
The El Pomar District estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Grenache from calcareous east-side Paso Robles soils at the accessible walk-in pricing that characterizes the district's most hospitable estates.
