About Brave and Maiden Estate
Brave and Maiden is a family estate on North Refugio Road, founded by Joshua D. Ritcher, and it deliberately runs small. The tasting is described as intimate and personal rather than a bar service, and it is one of the Santa Ynez wineries where a reservation is genuinely required rather than merely encouraged.
The planting is Bordeaux and Rhone, which places it between the two poles of Santa Barbara winemaking - the Cabernet country of Happy Canyon to the east and the Syrah of Ballard Canyon just north.
Refugio Road runs south out of Santa Ynez town, which keeps the estate off the busier Foxen Canyon and Alamo Pintado circuits.
