About Folie à Deux Winery
Folie à Deux Winery is named for the folie à deux — the French psychiatric term for a shared delusion, a madness held jointly by two people who have convinced each other that something impossible is true. Dr. Lawrence Dopson and Evie Dopson chose this name when they established the winery in 1981, declaring their joint wine ambition as a shared madness: two people convinced they could make great wine in Napa Valley, a conviction their friends and colleagues may well have thought delusional.
The Saint Helena Highway estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Zinfandel from Napa Valley and Amador County vineyard sources at accessible everyday pricing. The daily walk-in format, dog-friendly grounds, and picnic facilities make Folie à Deux one of the Saint Helena corridor's most welcoming everyday-experience wineries.
