About Camp 4 Wine Co.
Camp 4 Wine Co. is named for Camp 4 — the legendary Yosemite Valley campground adjacent to El Capitan that served as the base camp and community gathering place for the generation of climbers who defined American rock climbing culture in the 1960s and 70s. Royal Robbins, Warren Harding, Yvon Chouinard, and dozens of other climbing legends lived in Camp 4 while completing first ascents of El Capitan and Half Dome.
Applied to wine, the Camp 4 philosophy declares the climber's ethic: no shortcuts, the summit is the only acceptable destination, and the community of people who share the commitment are the most important part of the experience. The Adelaida District boutique produces Grenache and Syrah from calcareous limestone west-side Paso Robles sources with this summit-commitment philosophy.
