About Carter Estate Winery and Resort
Carter Estate is a winery with a resort attached rather than the other way round, sitting on Rancho California Road in the middle of the valley's busiest stretch, a couple of minutes from Wilson Creek.
The tasting is deliberately set apart from the crowds: a private tasting room rather than a bar counter, which is the point of difference from its larger neighbours.
Accommodation is bungalow-style, Tuscan in styling, with private patios and fireplaces, an outdoor pool with cabanas, a restaurant, bar and poolside bar. Bicycles can be hired to get around the surrounding wine roads.
It is one of the valley's few places where you can taste, eat and stay on the same property, which makes it a practical base for a weekend rather than a single stop.
