Cerro Caliente Cellars is named from the Spanish cerro caliente — hot hill, the elevated terrain that absorbs the Central California sun's intense heat through the long growing season. The hot hill naming declares the estate's terroir characteristic most directly: the elevated position that receives more direct solar radiation than the valley floor, the heat that concentrates Syrah and Grenache into the powerful expressions that the Templeton Gap's most warmly-positioned sites produce. The boutique produces Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier from Templeton Gap District estate and contracted vineyard sources.
