About Chateau Ste. Michelle
Chateau Ste. Michelle is Washington State's founding and flagship winery, established in 1934 as the state's oldest winery, and now the largest and most historically significant wine producer in the Pacific Northwest. The 105-acre estate in Woodinville, with its Tudor manor house, manicured grounds, and summer concert series, is one of Washington's most-visited attractions.
The winery pioneered cold-climate Riesling in Washington, establishing that the Columbia Valley's combination of extreme diurnal temperature variation, volcanic soils, and abundant sunshine could produce Riesling of world-class quality. The collaboration with German Riesling legend Ernst Loosen (Eroica) and Italian producer Piero Antinori (Col Solare) brought international credibility and placed Washington wines before global audiences.
Across a portfolio spanning the Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley, Walla Walla, and Horse Heaven Hills, Chateau Ste. Michelle produces everything from iconic Riesling to the Horse Heaven Vineyard Cabernet, one of Washington's most critically acclaimed red wines. The Woodinville estate is the essential first stop for any serious exploration of Washington wine.
