About Colagrossi Wines
Colagrossi Wines is a small urban winery in Windsor's Artisan Alley Beverage District, a cluster of independent makers just south of the town square. It is the personal project of Craig Colagrossi, who works the floor and the cellar alongside his wife, Diane, and it channels his Italian heritage, the family traces back to San Marco la Catola in Puglia, into a lineup you don't often see in Sonoma.
While Craig started out on the region's familiar Pinot Noir, Merlot and Viognier, the heart of Colagrossi is Italian varietals: Sangiovese, Barbera, Dolcetto, Montepulciano, Nero d'Avola and Ribolla Gialla, alongside Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, a sparkling rose and a super-Tuscan blend named La Catola after the family's home village. Everything is made in small lots from carefully chosen California vineyards, guided by Craig's own advice to himself: make wines that are true to you.
The tasting experience matches the wines, informal, friendly and often hosted by Craig himself, with an outdoor lounge and fire pit, barrel samples and easy conversation. It is open Friday through Tuesday, a genuinely independent stop off the beaten path.
