About Convergence Zone Cellars
Convergence Zone Cellars is named for the meteorological convergence zone — the atmospheric boundary where warm Central Valley air from the west meets cool Pacific maritime air from the north, creating the unique micro-climate conditions of the western Sierra Nevada foothills. This atmospheric convergence creates diurnal temperature swings of 40 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit in El Dorado County, far greater than either the valley floor or the Napa Valley benchlands experience, producing wines of unusual freshness and structural tension.
The Carson Road estate produces Zinfandel, Grenache, Syrah, and Tempranillo from El Dorado County vineyard blocks at 2,500 to 3,000 feet elevation where the convergence zone effects are most pronounced. The winery's meteorological naming declares that the wines' character is a product of atmosphere as much as soil.
The daily walk-in experience is dog-friendly, picnic-welcoming, and family-hospitable.
