About DeLoach Vineyards
DeLoach Vineyards is one of the Russian River Valley's most historically significant and presently transformed wine estates. Cecil DeLoach co-founded the winery in 1975 and built it into one of the RRV's most recognized brands before selling to the Boisset family of Burgundy in 2003. Jean-Charles Boisset — the dynamic Franco-American wine entrepreneur who has expanded the Boisset Collection across California and Burgundy — acquired DeLoach with a specific vision: transform it into the RRV's most committed biodynamic estate.
The transformation has been comprehensive. The Old Vine Estate vineyards on Olivet Road — which include some of the most historically significant old-vine Zinfandel and Pinot Noir plantings in the Russian River Valley — are now certified biodynamic, farmed using the same Demeter-certified principles that the Boisset family applies to their Burgundy estate holdings. The biodynamic farming program includes cover crops, compost teas, lunar calendar planting, and the integration of farm animals into the agricultural ecosystem.
The wines produced from these biodynamic old-vine sources — particularly the estate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel from the Olivet Road property — show the genuine complexity and terroir expression that certified biodynamic farming consistently produces when applied to historically significant old-vine sites in one of California's greatest wine corridors.
