About Devona
Devona is the small Walla Walla winery John and Molly Abbott launched with the 2012 vintage, and it is one of the few places in the valley where Oregon Pinot Noir sits on the same list as Washington Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Production runs to roughly 2,000 cases, with fruit drawn from the Columbia Valley, the Columbia Gorge and the Willamette Valley.
John Abbott brings one of the longer winemaking resumes in Walla Walla. After Fresno State and stints at Acacia and Pine Ridge in Napa, he moved to Walla Walla in 1994 to open Canoe Ridge Vineyard, then spent thirteen years as the founding winemaker at Abeja before starting Devona. The wines lean broad-shouldered but polished, the style of a winemaker with nearly four decades of harvests behind him.
In September 2026 Kelsey Itämeri, owner and winemaker of neighboring Itä Wines, acquired Devona, including its brand, inventory and equipment. Abbott remains winemaker alongside Enrique Ibarra and will move gradually into a founding and consulting role, and Molly Abbott and the existing staff are staying on. Tastings continue at Devona's own room in the Airport District through the end of 2026; check with the winery for where to taste after that.
