Dolia Winery — Lake County Winery & Tasting Room

Dolia Winery takes its name from the dolia — the large clay amphora vessels (dolium, plural dolia) used in ancient Rome for storing wine, olive oil, and grain. The dolia were the wine storage technology of the Roman world before wooden barrels became predominant, their clay walls absorbing the wine's character while providing a permeable barrier that allowed slow oxidation. The naming declares both the ancient wine storage heritage and the Red Hills Lake County volcanic terrain: clay-rich volcanic soils producing wines that the ancient clay dolia would have stored.
