About Domaine Alfred

Domaine Alfred combines the French domaine (the estate, the wine property in the Burgundian tradition) with Alfred — the medieval English-Germanic given name (from the Old English Aelfred, counsel of elves or elf counsel, later Anglicized and used throughout the French-speaking world as Alfred). The Edna Valley estate's French-naming tradition applied to an English-Germanic first name creates the Franco-English cultural hybrid that reflects the estate's character: Burgundian variety focus (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay) in California's most distinctly cool-Pacific-influenced inland valley.
