About Firetree Family Vineyards
Ricardo and Dayva Jimenez purchased the 70-acre property from Silverado Vineyards in April 2021 with their three children. The land was part of Rancho Entre Napa, a 7,000-acre Mexican land grant used for cattle grazing in the 1880s; Riesling and Zinfandel were first planted there in 1883 by Italian immigrant Giuseppe Antonio Sciligo, with modern vines dating to 1983. Silverado Vineyards previously made single-block, vineyard-designate Chardonnay from the site through 2020.
Winemaker Julien Fayard, who also runs his own Maison Fayard tasting room in downtown Napa, crafts Firetree's two estate Chardonnays. The 22-acre vineyard, at 2260 Buhman Avenue within the Los Carneros AVA, uses babydoll sheep for cover-crop grazing and rain-fed pond irrigation as part of a transition toward organic certification, supported by the Napa County Resource Conservation District.
