About Forestedge Winery
Forestedge Winery is the winery in the woods, set on the edge of the Paul Bunyan State Forest in northern Minnesota near Laporte. Established in 1999, Forestedge takes a fundamentally different approach from most Minnesota wineries: rather than growing grapes, it produces premium wines from the fruits and berries that thrive in the North Country, including rhubarb, black currant, blueberry, raspberry, chokecherry, and apple. The award-winning Rhubarb Wine, made from rhubarb grown at the adjacent Rhubarb View Farm, has become the signature bottle, and the winery's lineup of 25 wines ranges from dry to semi-sweet. Visitors can taste and purchase wine, chat with the winemaker, and enjoy a glass on the cobblestone patio surrounded by forest. A gallery inside features work from regional artisans, and the annual Art Fair at the Winery, held the third weekend in August, draws 30-plus artists alongside food vendors and live music.
Forestedge is seasonal, typically open May through fall, and is an easy side trip from Walker, Bemidji, Park Rapids, or Itasca State Park.
