About Fratelli Perata Winery
Fratelli Perata is a tiny, traditional family winery in the El Pomar District of Paso Robles, rooted in Italian immigrant heritage; the name means the Perata brothers in Italian. Founded in the 1980s and making only about 1,800 cases a year from its own estate grapes, it focuses on Italian and Bordeaux varieties, from Sangiovese, Barbera, and Charbono to Cabernet and Merlot, in a distinctly old-world, food-loving style built to age.
This is a low-key, personal stop far from the polished-resort end of Paso. Tastings are by appointment and walk you through a curated range of the estate's varieties with food-pairing suggestions, some ready to drink now, others worth cellaring. For lovers of authentic, traditional Italian-style California wine, it is a genuine hidden gem.
