About Gabriele Rausse Winery
Gabriele Rausse is Virginia wine's godfather: the Italian who made Barboursville's first vines grow in 1976, later Monticello's director of gardens, pours his own small-lot, minimal-intervention wines from a Carters Mountain cellar, appointment-scale visits with the man himself often narrating.
Half the state's vineyards trace to his cuttings and counsel. The founding hand, still pouring.
