About Giornata Wines
Giornata is Paso Robles' standout for Italian grape varieties, the passion of Brian and Stephanie Terrizzi, who set out to make wines from Italian grapes with genuine Italian sensibility. The name means a day's work in Italian, and the lineup is a rarity in a Rhone- and Cabernet-heavy region: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sangiovese, Aglianico, Vermentino, and Fiano, plus amphora-aged orange wines, all balanced, lower in alcohol, and built for the dinner table. The team also makes the well-priced Broadside label.
You will find them in Tin City, Paso's walkable warehouse district of small-batch producers, in a solar-powered, design-award-winning space. Tastings are unhurried and hands-on, led by guides who know Italian wine and food well, and sometimes by Brian or Stephy themselves. Their Nebbiolo is regularly called among the best made outside Barolo, making this a must for anyone curious about Italian varieties done right in California.

Brian and StephanieBrian and Stephanie Terrizzi, whose Italian-American heritage and personal conviction that Paso Robles's warm, calcareous-limestone terrain most closely approximates the growing conditions of Italy's most celebrated Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Aglianico producing regions, established Giornata (Italian for 'a day' or 'a day's work,' the most personally Italian-cultural-labor-celebrating wine name available) as the most individually Italian-variety-committed and Italian-terroir-philosophically-Paso-Robles-specifically-declaring boutique wine appointment on the Central Coast.

The Giornata varietalThe Giornata varietal program, Nebbiolo (Barolo's most structurally age-demanding and most individually Italian-variety-complex grape), Barbera (Piedmont's most food-table-traditionally-Italian variety), Aglianico (Southern Italy's most historically ancient and most powerfully concentrated indigenous variety), and Fiano (Campania's most aromatically distinctive indigenous white variety), demonstrates what the most individually Italian-variety-specifically-obsessed and Paso-Robles-Italian-terroir-philosophically-committed boutique produces when genuine Italian varietal and terroir knowledge guides every winemaking and sourcing decision.
