Goldridge Organic Farms — Russian River Valley Winery & Tasting Room

Goldridge Organic Farms is named for the Goldridge soil series — the well-drained sandy loam soil type (classified as Goldridge loamy sand in soil science nomenclature) that characterizes the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir growing terrain in the Russian River Valley. The Goldridge soil's sandy composition, excellent drainage, and relative infertility create the vine stress that concentrates flavors in the berry while preventing the excessive vigor that rich soils produce. Naming the farm for its soil type is the most terroir-transparent possible approach: this is literally Goldridge soil wine.
