About Grape and Granary · Cellar Rats Brewery & Winery
The Grape and Granary was a home brewing, winemaking and distilling supply business at 915 Home Avenue in Akron, Ohio, run by John Pastor. It served Akron area beer and wine makers for about 33 years, supported the local SAAZ brewing club and worked with the University of Akron on fermentation science. The phone number carried on this page, (330) 633-7223, belonged to that Akron shop.
This listing pairs the Akron address with the Cellar Rats Brewery name, but those were two separate businesses. Cellar Rats Brewery operated in Madison, Ohio, on the Debonne Vineyards property in the Grand River Valley, roughly an hour northeast of Akron, and it is also listed as closed. So the entry as written combines a supply shop in Summit County with a brewery in Lake County, and neither one is a winery tasting room a traveler can plan around.
Neither address offers a visit. The Grape and Granary closed on June 28, 2025 after John Pastor retired, and the equipment from the shop and its co located winery and distillery operations was auctioned that month. The daily 10 am to 4 pm hours on this page do not apply. Travelers looking for a Grand River Valley tasting room in Madison should look up Debonne Vineyards instead. Confirm current details before you go.
This winery is listed here for reference. It is closed, so there is no tasting room to visit.
