Harmonique Winery takes its name from the French harmonique — the harmonic, the overtone, the sympathetic vibration that sounds alongside a fundamental musical note. In music, harmonics are the notes that sound simultaneously with the main pitch, creating the rich complex sound of a musical instrument rather than the thin pure tone of a single frequency. Applied to blending, the harmonic philosophy declares wine made from varieties that vibrate together sympathetically: Barbera and Tempranillo as harmonics, each variety a different overtone of the same fundamental expression of Amador County terroir. The Sutter Creek boutique produces Barbera, Tempranillo, and Zinfandel from Shenandoah Valley heritage vineyard sources.
