About Hawkes Wine
Hawkes Wine is one of the Alexander Valley's most quietly accomplished and critically respected small-production Cabernet Sauvignon estates. Stephen and Antonia Hawkes founded the label in 1999 with access to some of the Alexander Valley's most historically significant vineyard sites — including blocks adjacent to the legendary Robert Young Vineyard, one of the AVA's most celebrated Chardonnay and Cabernet sources.
The Hawkes program focuses tightly on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from specific Alexander Valley vineyard partnerships, producing wines that consistently earn 90–95 point recognition for their combination of Alexander Valley warmth and genuine terroir specificity. The single-vineyard approach — naming and distinguishing specific Alexander Valley sites rather than blending them into a generic appellation expression — gives the Hawkes program an intellectual seriousness that sets it apart from the more commercially oriented Alexander Valley Cabernet market.
The Highway 128 tasting room with picnic grounds provides walk-in access to one of the Alexander Valley's most thoughtfully produced and honestly priced small-estate Cabernet programs.
