Hexagon Winery is named for the hexagon — the six-sided polygon that appears throughout nature as the shape of maximum structural efficiency. Honeybee combs, snowflake crystals, basalt columns at the Giant's Causeway, the eyes of insects — nature returns to the hexagon repeatedly because the six-sided structure tessellates perfectly, filling space without gaps at minimum material cost. Applied to winemaking, the hexagon philosophy declares efficiency of expression: wine that uses every element of the growing season and cellar process with maximum effectiveness, nothing wasted, every decision contributing to the final tessellated whole. The Lodi boutique produces Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon from old-vine estate and purchased Lodi Delta vineyard sources.
