About Hidden Creek Vineyard & Winery

Hidden Creek Vineyard & Winery sits on Carter Road outside Laceyville, in the Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. Russ Leichliter and his wife Ruth opened it on November 4, 2006, with a ribbon cutting attended by state Rep. Tina Pickett. Russ learned winemaking from his grandfather Edward and the couple made wine as a hobby for about thirty years before going commercial; Ruth has said they moved when the wine industry began making its mark on the northeastern corner of the state.

The house style leans sweet and semi sweet, built from Pennsylvania grapes and local orchard fruit, with a list that runs dry, sweet, fruity and late harvest. The signature sweet wine is Bullfrog's Keg Sangria, a Vidal Blanc with guava and passion fruit, and Bluestone is the popular semi sweet; seasonal bottlings have included a Pumpkin Wine and Mudwasp, a chocolate infused sweet red. The winery has taken Pennsylvania state honors including a Governor's Cup and a Best of Show at the Farm Show in Harrisburg, and it hosts events and benefits through the year. Visitors describe a small, personal room; the winery bills its service as the kind that feels like home.

Listed hours are Thursday noon to 5 pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm, with the winery closed Monday through Wednesday. The phone number is (570) 869-9463. No tasting fee or reservation requirement is published, so call ahead if you are bringing a group. Confirm current details before you go.
