About Highway 12 Vineyards and Winery
Highway 12 Vineyards and Winery takes its name from the state highway it sits alongside — Route 12, which threads through the Sonoma Valley connecting the historic town of Sonoma to Kenwood and beyond. It is a road through California wine country, and the winery's name simply says: we are here, on this road, in this valley.
The estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel from Sonoma Valley estate vineyards in the warm, sheltered bowl between the Mayacamas and Sonoma Mountain ranges. The Sonoma Valley's daytime warmth — heated by the absence of direct marine influence that cools Carneros and the Sonoma Coast — produces fuller-bodied reds with ripe, generous fruit.
The daily walk-in tasting room on Arnold Drive is one of the most straightforwardly accessible wine experiences in Sonoma Valley: good estate wines, dog-friendly grounds, picnic space, and honest Sonoma hospitality from a winery that knows exactly where it is and what that means.
