About Highwayman Wines
Highwayman Wines is named for the highwayman — either the romantic English outlaw of Alfred Noyes's 1906 poem (riding through the night with his rapier sword and his love waiting at the inn) or the literal road-workers who historically maintained England's country highways. Applied to wine, the highwayman declares a romantic disregard for conventional expectations: wine made outside the expected lanes, taking the road less traveled through Dry Creek Valley and Sonoma County's hillside vineyard terrain.
The Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel and Petite Sirah program sources from estate and purchased Sonoma County vineyard blocks selected for their old-vine character and the out-of-convention quality the highwayman philosophy requires.
