About Highwayman Wines

Highwayman Wines is the small-production, site-specific label of Highway 12 Winery, run by longtime friends Michael Sebastiani and Paul Giusto, who carry three generations of Sonoma winemaking tradition between them. The name evokes the old highwaymen who once preyed on travelers along rustic roads in California and Europe, a nod to the winery's road-tripping approach: sourcing top lots from favored vineyards across Sonoma, Napa and the Sierra Foothills through decades of grower relationships.

Where Highway 12 covers a broad, approachable range, Highwayman is the reserve tier, representing the best barrels from selected sites, especially in the Sonoma Valley. The flagship is the Highwayman Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a rich, structured Bordeaux-style red the winery half-jokingly calls the Ultimate Cab, alongside a Trailblazer red blend and other proprietary reds.

Tastings for both labels happen at The Barn, a rustic, welcoming tasting room tucked just off the Sonoma Plaza in downtown Sonoma. Expect a laid-back, reservation-based flight, roughly an hour, dog-friendly, with chill tunes, a genuinely unpretentious stop steps from the square.
