About Hitching Post Wines
Hitching Post is the winery of Frank Ostini, chef-owner of Buellton's famous Hitching Post II steakhouse, and fisherman-partner Gray Hartley, whose Highliner Pinot Noir became a household name when the restaurant starred in the film Sideways. The pair have made Santa Barbara Pinot together since the 1980s, wines built to accompany Ostini's oak-grilled steaks.
The Highliner remains the flagship, restaurant-honest Pinot at fair prices, and the tasting room adjacent to the steakhouse completes the pilgrimage. Movie fame, backed by decades of real cooking and real winemaking.
The Sideways steakhouse's own Pinot: chef Ostini and fisherman Hartley's Highliner, decades older than the fame.
