About Hitching Post Winery

Hitching Post Winery is named for the Old West hitching post — the horizontal wooden bar to which horses were tethered while their riders conducted business inside. The restaurant-winery combination on Highway 246 in Buellton is one of Santa Barbara County's most famous wine tourism destinations, made internationally recognizable by the 2004 film Sideways, in which Paul Giamatti's character Miles orders Pinot Noir at the Hitching Post bar.

Frank Ostini and Gray Hartley's winery produces Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Grenache from Santa Barbara County vineyard sources including the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. Wine Spectator has scored Hitching Post's Pinot Noir at 88–92 points.
