Holly's Hill Vineyards is named for the hill where their daughter Holly played as a child — the specific piece of El Dorado County land that became the estate's Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Viognier vineyards. Jack and Wendy Smith's daughter's playground is now one of California's most seriously committed Rhône variety estates in the Sierra Foothills.
The Leisure Lane estate produces Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise, Viognier, Roussanne, and Grenache Blanc from El Dorado County estate vineyard blocks at high elevation, where the Sierra Foothills' dramatic diurnal temperature swings create growing conditions that produce Rhône varieties of unusual freshness and structural precision.
