About Hope Well Wine

Hope Well Wine is the acclaimed Oregon label of Mimi Casteel, a farmer, forest ecologist and winemaker in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley. The younger daughter of Ted Casteel and Pat Dudley, co-founders of Bethel Heights Vineyard, she grew up in the region's vineyards and, after an MS in forest ecology and years as a Forest Service botanist, returned to winegrowing with a deep commitment to the land.

Hope Well is best known as one of the leading voices in regenerative viticulture in Oregon. Casteel farms with no irrigation, no tilling, native cover crops and animals, and vinifies with native yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation and minimal sulfur, making site-expressive, carbon-conscious wines. The lineup centers on Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir alongside Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and a rose.

Her original Hope Well Vineyard was sold in 2021 to Bledsoe-McDaniels, and Casteel has continued the Hope Well label from a new Eola-Amity Hills site. The wines are made in tiny quantities and sold largely through allocation, a mailing list and fine-wine retail rather than a walk-in tasting room; contact the winery directly to find the wines or arrange a visit.

Mimi Casteel's regenerative Eola-Amity Hills project, not a Paso winery.
