About Jaffurs Wine Cellars
Craig Jaffurs built one of Santa Barbara's defining urban wineries, a downtown cellar blocks from the beach devoted to Rhone varieties, above all Syrah from the county's greatest sites, Bien Nacido, Larner, Thompson among them. Founded in 1994, the house earned a reputation for dark, spicy, generous Syrahs that never lost their coastal lift.
The working-winery tasting experience, barrels and all, made Jaffurs a template for the county's urban wine scene, and later stewardship has carried the Rhone focus forward. Syrah, downtown.
