About Jorian Hill Winery
Jorian Hill Vineyards is a small, family-owned estate winery in Ballard Canyon, in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County. Owners Gary and Jeanne Newman, who came to wine after careers in entertainment, discovered a roughly 20-acre estate amid the rolling hills of Ballard Canyon in 2005 and turned an existing hillside vineyard into a boutique, Rhone-focused label.
The estate is organically farmed and planted mainly to Rhone varieties well-suited to Ballard Canyon's limestone, sand and clay-loam soils and wind-and-fog microclimate. Jorian Hill handcrafts small-lot, estate-grown wines - principally Syrah, Grenache and Viognier along with Rhone blends such as its BEEspoke bottling - with winemaking guided by numerous small-lot fermentations to capture a clear sense of place.
The wines have drawn praise from publications including the Wall Street Journal and San Francisco Chronicle and are found at California restaurants and wine bars as well as online. Visits are best arranged directly, so confirm current tasting and appointment details with the winery before planning a trip.
