K Vintners is Charles Smith's Walla Walla estate — the most flamboyant and critically successful of his portfolio of Washington wine projects, known for Syrah of staggering concentration and critical scores that rival the world's finest Northern Rhône producers. Smith, a rock music manager who arrived in Walla Walla in the late 1990s, became one of Washington wine's most distinctive voices through his insistence on Syrah and his deliberately provocative wine names and label designs.

The Charles Smith Wines range — K Vintners, Substance, Wines of Substance — spans a remarkable price range from everyday Columbia Valley to the celebrated Motor City Kitty and Veladora single-vineyard Syrahs that have drawn perfect and near-perfect scores from Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. The Walla Walla tasting room, a converted industrial space, reflects Smith's aesthetic: minimal, striking, and entirely committed to the wines.

K Vintners Syrahs, sourced from select Columbia Valley and Walla Walla sites, are made in the Northern Rhône tradition: whole-cluster fermentation, indigenous yeast, and aging that prioritizes complexity over early approachability.
