About Liquid Farm
Liquid Farm is one of California's standard-bearers for Old World-styled Chardonnay, founded by Jeff and Nikki Nelson with four barrels of 2009 Chardonnay and shaped by Jeff's years working for Veuve Clicquot. The focus has always been the Sta. Rita Hills, whose ancient marine soils and cold Pacific wind give the wines their Chablis-like tension.
The Chardonnays, led by the mineral White Hill and the richer Golden Slope, earned the label national acclaim, with wine writer Jon Bonne calling White Hill a standard-bearer for the state's best Chardonnay accomplishments. A once-unthinkable Pinot Noir program has since grown to several bottlings, alongside a devoted following for the rose, with winemaker James Sparks keeping the style built on acidity, restraint and site.
The tasting room and mercantile occupies a charming former bank building on Alamo Pintado Avenue in the heart of walkable Los Olivos, complete with a glass rotunda alcove, a wall of rose bottles and farmhouse warmth. It pours daily from 11am, with flights spanning new releases and library wines.
