About Mallinson Vineyard and Hall
Mallinson Vineyard and Hall is at 3029 N River Boulevard in Sugar Creek, Missouri, just outside Independence in the Kansas City area. Matt Mallinson founded it with his family; a pharmacist of more than thirty years, he develops the recipe for each wine himself and brings his chemistry background to the winemaking. The winery occupies a repurposed one room schoolhouse on historic River Boulevard that keeps much of its original character, along the corridor of the Lewis and Clark, Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails.
The estate pours a short list, counted as six wines with three more in the perfecting stages in one listing and eight wines in another, in a tasting room the winery describes as welcoming and set up to please the palate. There is indoor and outdoor seating, food and snacks, tours, and locally crafted items for sale, and the grounds take families, pets and buses. A rewards program called Uncorked runs for regulars. Two other buildings sit beside the tasting room: the Hall, an event space that holds 150 indoors and up to 200 when the outdoor space is included, with planning and catering available, and the remodeled Norton House, an overnight rental sleeping up to eight in two bedrooms with a kitchen, dining room and living space.
Listed hours are Saturday 11 am to 4 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm, with the winery noting seasonal variations on its own site, so check before you set out rather than relying on the daily 10 am to 4 pm shown on this page. The phone number is (816) 812-4999. No tasting fee is published; ask when you arrive. Confirm current details before you go.
