Marine Layer Wines is one of the most stylish and distinctly of-the-moment winery experiences in Healdsburg. The tasting room, designed by Los Angeles interior design firm Hommeboys, opened in 2021 to immediate acclaim from both the wine and design worlds. AFAR Magazine specifically named it among the 19 essential wineries to visit in Sonoma County, calling it a place where 'stylish patrons sip on delicately balanced, slightly saline pinot noirs.'
Founded in 2014, Marine Layer focuses exclusively on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast, the 'marine layer' referring to the Pacific fog that rolls in each morning and defines the cool, coastal character of the appellation. Winemaker Mark Albrecht has built a house style of remarkable freshness and salinity, wines that taste like the Pacific Ocean smells on a foggy Sonoma Coast morning.
