About Mauritson Family Winery

Mauritson Family Winery is one of the most extraordinary heritage stories in Dry Creek Valley. The Mauritson family has been growing grapes in Sonoma County since the 1880s — six generations of continuous farming that places them among the county's most deeply rooted agricultural families. Great-great-great-grandfather Sven Mauritson emigrated from Sweden to Healdsburg in the 1880s and began farming the land that the family has tended ever since.

The winery, founded in 2001 by Clay Mauritson, produces two distinct styles from the family's holdings: classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon from the valley floor, and dramatically different Rockpile AVA wines from their high-elevation volcanic estate above Lake Sonoma.

The contrast between Dry Creek Valley and Rockpile in the tasting lineup is genuinely educational — the same winemaker, the same family, but two radically different terroirs producing wines that taste nothing like each other. The Dry Creek tasting room on the valley corridor offers access to both ranges with beautiful views and a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.

At its Rockpile location, Mauritson Family Winery presents a featured lineup that includes Rockpile Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.

Rockpile Zinfandel
From volcanic soils high above Lake Sonoma — one of the most concentrated and age-worthy Zinfandels produced in Sonoma County. Dark, powerful, and utterly unlike the valley floor expressions.

Volcanic high-elevation Cab from the Rockpile estate — structured, mineral, and built for long aging in the same tradition as the great mountain Cabernets of Sonoma.
