Pali Wine Co. takes its name from Pali — a Hawaiian word for cliff, and the name of the famous Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles where the founding winemaker has roots. The cliff-and-palisades naming declares the estate's California coastal identity: the Pacific-edge character, the clifftop perspective, the dramatic meeting of land and ocean that both the Hawaiian and Los Angeles palisades imagery evokes. The Sta. Rita Hills boutique produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the appellation's most dramatically Pacific-influenced vineyard sites.
