About Patz & Hall Winery

Patz & Hall Winery was founded in 1988 on a deliberately unconventional premise: own no vineyards, but cultivate the deepest possible relationships with Sonoma County's greatest growers. For over 35 years, winemakers Don Patz and James Hall pursued this philosophy — working exclusively with single-vineyard sites from Hudson, Gap's Crown, Dutton Ranch, and other landmark Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley properties.

The result is a portfolio of single-vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that stand among the finest terroir-driven wines in California — wines that couldn't exist without the long-term trust and partnership with each grower that Patz & Hall has built over decades.

Patz & Hall was acquired by Crimson Wine Group in 2016, but the winemaking team and grower relationships have continued with the same focus on single-vineyard authenticity. The Sonoma tasting room offers an unusual opportunity to taste multiple expressions of the same varietal from different landmark sites side by side — a genuinely educational single-vineyard experience.

Patz & Hall Winery presents a featured lineup that includes Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay, Gap's Crown Pinot Noir, Dutton Ranch Chardonnay, and Alder Springs Pinot Noir. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.

"Single-vineyard Burgundian specialists since 1988. No estate vineyard — just extraordinary relationships with Sonoma County's greatest growers and win"
