Prie Winery takes its name from the French-Italian prieur — the first, the early, the priority. In viticulture, timing is everything: harvesting at precisely the right moment, not too early and not too late, requires the winemaker's most fundamental judgment. Prie declares the philosophy of the first priority: picking at the optimal moment when the natural acidity and aromatic complexity are at their peak, before the heat of the later harvest season diminishes freshness. The white-wine-focused Lodi boutique produces Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay, and Viognier from Lodi AVA vineyard sources with the early-priority harvesting philosophy that the French-Italian name implies.
